Hon. Andie Onyemeziem, Legislative Assistant to Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, representing Delta north in the National Assembly, on Friday reeled out empowerment packages of the senator for the two years and five months the senator has been in the red chambers at the federal capital territory, Abuja.
In a step by step analysis, Onyemeziem who is also the head of the SPON MEDIA TEAM listed the projects, programmes and various categories of empowerment Senator Nwaoboshi has made to lighten the burden of people in Delta north and improve their living conditions.
He told emeraldng.com that Nwaoboshi sponsored skills acquisition in February 2016, for his immediate constituent, Ibusa. He said that he has influenced some NDDC road projects to his constituency. He listed the areas where the roads were built to include Kwale, Ogwashi Uku, Ibusa, Okpanam, Ebu and Asaba, the capital city of Delta state.
He said Senator Nwaoboshi donated two ambulances to two general hospitals in the zone. He named the hospitals to include general hospitals in Agbor and Ibusa. He said that he had gone beyond these to build a palatial quarters at Ibusa for Reverend Sisters as part of his own ways of thanking God.
Onyemeziem, who made the disclosure at the backdrop of a publication which did not go down well with the senator, revealed that Nwaoboshi, in his 2016 December mega empowerment programme had also given out 98 motorcycles to rural dwellers, 98 sewing machines, 98 disabled wheel chairs, 98 grinding machines, 9 oil milling machines, 9 tricycles, cash for traders and market women.
According to him, Nwaoboshi had also instituted the OBI FRANCIS NWAOBOSHI FOUNDATION to cater for indigent students and assist business people.
He said the senator has just released N50 million for the first phase of it, revealing that towards that, 8 persons have been listed from each of the 98 wards in Delta north, which would amount to 784 people to be assisted with at least N50,000.
In the list of empowerment packages, the media aide said Nwaoboshi had a get-together with the less-privileged on September 22, 2017, where he feted them.
He also informed that the distinguished senator Nwaoboshi had influenced the siting of three skills acquisition centres in Kwale, Agbor and Ibusa.
He said Nwaoboshi fought and got the people of Ndokwa nation into the amnesty programme which over 300 beneficiaries are being trained at Ubulu-uku, Aniocha south local government area of Delta state.
Apart from that, he said that he has sponsored three youth chairmen from Ndokwa nation to the recent international youth convention in Ghana, amongst other things.
Onyemeziem, who is also senatorial co-ordinator for Nwaoboshi, further said that the senator’s empowerment in December 2017, where over 1000 bags of rice (100 bags per local government) and all the items given out amounted to almost N200million was unprecedented.
The not happy media aide wondered why anybody at all would go out to say that senator Nwaoboshi, a first timer and one in opposition at the National Assembly has not done well.
In this empowerment, market women, students, small and medium scale business people and youths benefited from all the packages made available to the people of the area.
He urged everybody to support senator Nwaoboshi in order to achieve more.
