OUR FRUSTRATIONS, LAMENTATION AND PRAYERS
Your Excellency, we convey to you warm greetings from the youths of the Niger Delta region in appreciating your efforts at building a NEW NIGERIA full of hope for our generation and the generations yet unborn.
We are not unmindful of the enormous task of re – writing our battered national history embarked upon by you since you took oath of office on May 29, 2015. Also, we hail your astuteness and doggedness at the national rebirth campaign being championed by you and few who believe in the course of our national value rebirth.
However, this medium becomes our choice for the obvious reasons of administrative bottlenecks and difficulties at getting our letters to your table, the near impossibility of reaching you by our EX-MILITANTS group who championed your campaign to becoming the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2015.
It has become very imperative to bring to your notice that since becoming our president on the crest of our collective efforts as Ex-militants in the Niger Delta region considering the risk associated with the mention of ‘Sai Buhari’ in that region at the time, close to 3 years, we are still being GROSSLY NEGLECTED.
Sir, you may recall the threats prior to your emergence in the region, the DOOR-TO-DOOR group to douse those tensions. This group was that which went through the nooks and crannies of the region declaring support and campaigning for you at the same time.
In that process, we incurred collateral damages in the death of our followers just as many others are languishing in prisons across the region as orchestrated by those we displaced to enthrone you as our PRESIDENT.
It is of note that while we took the ‘bullets’ for you in loyalty and national solidarity, those who fired bullets at us for your sake are ironically reaping the gains of MUHAMMADU BUHARI’S PRESIDENCY, no thanks to the “cash and carry” mode of recognition by those in the corridors of power.
Your integrity, credibility and uprightness attracted us to you as individuals and groups and to the best of our ability, we have been doing all humanly possible to support your government up till this moment particularly in ensuring peace and security in the creeks of the region.
In synergy we work with all security apparatus to bring down ill motivated attacks on our national patrimony at the expense of our lives and those of our followers with nothing to show for it yet no one from this administration is looking in our direction for patronage of any kind.
We have shown enough understanding in deep patience.
It may interest you to know that shortly after you took over in 2015, northern youth besieged the Villa demanding patronage from the government having worked for your emergence and they were given contracts worth millions of naira, some who have certificates were recruited into the SSS, Civil Defense, Police while the ones on the lowest rung of the social ladder were given huge sums as empowerment.
In as much as we do not want to believe it was made possible because they were northern youths whose demands were carried out in the most preferential and sectional manner, our NEGLECT by the POWER that be points to ethnic and tribal bigotry if not; WHAT STOPS this administration from giving us same treatment??
Before, during and after the presidential campaigns, we funded our groups ourselves. We invested our fortunes to bankroll all our campaign activities and Dr Sokonte Davies, who was the Director of Finance & Administration for the APC can attest to the fact that he didn’t give us a Kobo at any time. WE WON’T WORK FOR OTHERS TO REAP. EMPOWER US, MR PRESIDENT.
Precisely, in August 2016 after our remonstration to the Villa, we were invited to a meeting at the office of the Chairman, Security Committee, State House, Alh. Abdulwahab, with the Administrative Officer, Presidential Villa, Alh. Abdulahi Maikano, and other senior officials of the administration present.
They asked us to bring the list of our followers which we did with the aim of receiving same treatment as was done to the northern youths but predictably the ethnocentric elements in the system have refused to ANSWER us till date. Also, in July 2017, we were called upon to submit our company details, we did but no action till this moment.
Our frustration is borne out of the deliberate and avoidable NEGLECT of those of us who are the true AGENTS OF CHANGE.
We have lost confidence in those we worked with, they have refused to recognise and give us our rightful place in this government. What government will empower its enemies at the detriment of its foot soldiers?
However, Mr. President, all of this development we know you are not aware of as some persons have perpetually impeded the flow of information from the citizenry to you for reasons best known to them. Your place of integrity and respect remains indelible in our minds as we hope you RIGHT THE WRONGS because it’s not too late to so do.
All we ask for is PATRONAGE because we worked and are still working for you. Dismissing us as miscreants won’t do us any good, WE WANT TO CONTRIBUTE OUR QUOTA TO NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT and the space should be given to us without further delay.
As we write this, we expect reactions from those powers in the Villa who may want to hound us with security agents but they should be reminded that: “actions and reactions are equal and opposite.”
Ours is a group of complete gentlemen who represent the conscience of the Niger Delta region and with superlative intentions. We are embodiment of hardwork in loyalty to the course we believe in. All we stated above are nothing but the truth and we hope you make amend.
Mr. President, as we expect your timely response to our PRAYERS, we urge you to do the NEEDFUL AS THE CLOCK TICKS.
