APC lost last Bayelsa election because our members love money more than the party’s victory – Sylva

The Governorship flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2016 Governorship election in Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva on Friday opened up and offered reasons for the loss of the party to the candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP),  Governor Seriake Dickson.

Chief Timipre Sylva, who is the leader of the APC and former Governor of the State, said the 2016 governorship election was lost by the APC because the Former State Executive of the party traded with the party by running after money and not the victory of the party.

Chief Timipre Sylva, who made this known at the weekend during the formal inauguration of the state and local government chapter executives of the party in Yenagoa, said the party is doing everything to flush out those that betrayed the party’s chances of winning the last governorship election in the state and pave way for purpose driven leadership in the party ahead of 2019 election.

According to Sylva, “Gone are the days when some person within our fold will pretend as working with us in the day time and going to the other side at night because of money, adding that today the mission to take over Bayelsa state is just begun with the inauguration of loyal members and not self centred leadership.”

“Today we are inaugurating a people driven leadership, people that will take over Bayelsa, from here we can stand on an Olympian height and look at the center. From now you’ll see activities happening in the state, we’ll take over the state from the rats in power, whose several years of leadership and huge monies collected is wasted”

While referring to the factional group led by former acting Governor of the state, Chief Nestor Ibinabo, Chief Sylva jokingly said, “We have fumigated all the rats out the house, and we now have a brand new APC, people we don’t have to manage, people that will understand the mission of APC, people that will not take money and sell their conscience, people that will not come here and work with us in the day time and run to other side in the night to collect money.”

He described the newly inaugurated executive members as purpose driven, who will work assiduously for the victory of APC in 2019, saying the inauguration marked a new dawn in Bayelsa APC.

In his brief remark, the Minority leader of the State House of Assembly and member representing Brass 1, Hon. Isreal Sunny goli, advised the new leadership to ensure all party members are carried along in the scheme of things, adding that the takeover mission is truly begun.

He commended the huge crowd and major stakeholders for having faith in the party, adding that the hardship in the state under the current PDP administration will soon be over.
