The dream of Nigerian youths to be in position of leadership following the launch of the Not Too Young To Rule will soon come to fruition as Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, has promised 40 percent appointment slot for youths in his administration if he is given the mandate to lead Nigeria in the February 16 presidential election.
Atiku also said he has structured out good programmes for the people of the Niger Delta region, the region where the oil that funds the nation’s economy is produced, saying it is the people of the Niger Delta that first declared love for him.
Speaking in Ughelli, Delta state, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, special adviser to the PDP candidate on youths and support groups, said: “We know the hardship and the suffering of people of the Niger Delta and the sacrifice they have made. They have true love for Atiku Abubakar. And definitely, we have a lot of packages for the region, it is not for me to unveil them now.
“There are so many things we have in mind to do for this country. Atiku’s policy document is there on the internet for all Nigerians to see our programmes for Nigeria. There are so many things we have to do for Nigeria.
“Niger Delta people are the first that started showing love for Atiku. So, our prayer is for God to make it possible to get to power on February 16, 2019 and Nigerians will be proud, they will now know that yes, they now have a president. They have seen the president they have been denied over the years and God has made it possible.”
Abbas, who spoke when he commissioned the south south secretariat for youth and support groups in the zone at Ughelli on Thursday, told the zonal coordinator, Eshenakpe Israel, aka Akpodoro and the state coordinators from the zone that Alhaji Atiku has reserved 40 percent of his appointments for youths of Nigeria.
He said: “His Excellency is reserving 40 percent of appointments for youths. He said it. And he is someone that keeps and stands by his words. He will definitely do it when he comes to power. That is why he appointed me, somebody less than 30 years as his special adviser. He has already shown the way, that he will do what he said.
“By the special grace of God, he will carry everybody along. Nigerians have suffered so much and from all indications, time to rescue Nigeria has come. We are very much proud of Nigeria and by the grace of God, the good days will come again.”
According to Abbas: “Atiku understands the youths, he is youth friendly, he carries everybody along not minding where you come from. It is in our favour to elect him as president of Nigeria. We should say NO to those who have failed Nigeria, we should say NO to the cabals ruling Nigeria.”
He said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is seriously planning to rig the election, adding that rather than people saying they are working for Atiku, they should see their support for Atiku as efforts being made to reposition Nigeria and get things right.
He advised all the support groups to be serious and passionate with their work, saying if APC is allowed to continue in power, Nigeria will collapse. He said Nigerians have suffered enough and that Atiku is the only person that can change the situation for good.
South south zonal coordinator of youths and support groups, Akpodoro, said the Atiku struggle is struggle for all Nigerians, saying: “We are not working for Atiku but we are working for ourselves. Atiku has come to rescue all of us. Atiku understands the business of this country. Let’s project him so that we do not continue to suffer.”
He advised all the coordinators in the south south states to take the assignment of winning the election a task that must be done as all units, wards, local governments and the states must be won for Atiku in the entire South South region.
First majority leader for Delta state house of assembly and traditional ruler of Gbaregolor community in Ughelli South local government area of Delta state, HRH Dr. Dogood Mokpo, said right persons must be in positions and the right person at this time is Atiku Abubakar.
He said: “Atiku is a man of good reputation, he is a manager of people. If we have a man like that at the presidency, there will be good management of our resources. Everybody should work hard and deliver your unit and ward. I sincerely want you to change the situation of votes in your units. If Atiku comes on board, there will be succor for all Nigerians.”
