South-South coordinators of youth and support groups for PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, held its maiden meeting Saturday at Ughelli, Delta state.
The meeting which held at the instance of the zonal coordinator, South-South on Youth and Support Groups for Atiku, Eshanekpe Israel, a.k.a Akpodoro, focused on the need to shore up the support base for the former vice president and candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the zone with members expressing readiness to deliver the zone for the victory of their candidates.
In his opening address, Akpodoro enjoined all the south south state coordinators, contacts and mobilisation officers in the zone to reach out to every electorate in the geo-political zone and ensure the APC does not stand any chance at the poll.
At the well attended meeting with all the coordinators in attendance, Akpodoro told the gathering to keep doing their best for the Atiku project noting that Atiku has a way of knowing who is working or not, stressing that every coordinator must work hard to justify their demand for support from the national office.
Members present agreed on the importance of building synergy amongst coordinators and other officials to work together to achieve result, adding that coordinators should establish unfettered correspondence with the PDP governments in their respective states.
Other issues discussed include the need to carry the youth and support groups in the states along by the state coordinators to ensure a strong hold on the electorates.
The meeting also discussed the issue of keeping the peace in operational areas and working with security apparatus to ensure a clean victory while Akpodoro noted that Nigerians are going into elections and not war.
Akpodoro promised the August meeting of adequate representation at the centre as he urged the group to go all out and win votes for their principal.
The group had earlier sent a welcome message to Atiku Abubakar having returned from the United States after having a meeting with the US congressmen.
The group noted that the visit to the US by Atiku has vindicated him while putting a moral burden on the federal government.
He said: “By the US visit, Atiku has been able to show to the world that his hands are as clean as surgeon razor and with this feat we are proud of him and will ensure that he wins the presidential election come February 16, 2019.”
The group warned against rigging at the poll, noting that only the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC can set the nation on fire but urge the Coordinators to be peaceful in all they do.
In attendance at the meeting are: Meshak Onyeche, Smart Ubuluku, Iwolo Izuongbe who respresented the Bayelsa state coordinator, Lawyer Keme and Agbo Anthony amongst many others.
