A political pressure group under the aegis of Atiku Abubakar 2019 Media Vanguard weekend held Asaba, the capital of Delta state, down as members of the group from all states of Nigeria held a rally in solidarity with the presidential ambition of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

The group, led by Barrister Peresine Watchman, gathered its members from Delta, Edo, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Enugu, Lagos, Ekiti, Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Rivers, Ondo, Abia, Anambra, Imo, Ogun, Osun and others, marched through the major street of Okpanam road and Summit road in Asaba under the strict monitoring of members of the police in the state.

The group is of the belief that the only person fit for the 2019 presidency is former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, insisting that he is the only person with the needed political will to rescue Nigeria from its present of insecurity and economic quagmire.

In a speech delivered by Barrister Peresine Watchman, president of the group, he said the All Progressives Congress government led by President Muhammadu Buhari has failed Nigerians and the only alternative available to Nigerians is former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Barrister Watchman said: “We cannot afford to give the APC another four years. Nigerians have had it so bad, from Boko Haram bombings to ravaging Fulani herdsmen destroying whole communities and leaving behind the stench of deaths. APC government has failed in stabilizing our economy, a development which has led to many Nigerians losing their jobs and other means of livelihood.

“We do not want a government that does not have a road map of development, we do not want a government that cannot provide security, we do not want a government that that cannot provide employment for youths, we do not want a government that cannot promote Nigeria’s unity, we do not want a government that cannot make Nigeria stand tall as the real giant of Africa we were proud of.

“Atiku Abubakar is the best Nigerian political leader from Northern Nigeria, he is a detribalized Nigerian, a business magnate, a philanthropist and employer of labour.”

Watchman said men, women and youths of Atiku Media Vanguard across the 36 states and Federal Capital territory are demanding Atiku Abubakar to declare and run for the 2019 presidential election, believing undoubtedly that he has the political will and right information to take Nigeria out of its present state and transform it to the admiration of all Nigerians.

He called on all Nigerians to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and vote out the APC government from Nigeria, having failed to meet the need of the Nigerian people.

“It is evil to keep silence at this critical time as innocent children are being kidnapped, Nigerians are being killed on daily basis and we are facing the severest hardship and poverty since 1986. It is said that evil prevail in the land when good men keep quiet. We have to speak the truth at all times and at all cost, if not our silence will be taken as a continual approval of these evil activities.

“We are appealing to the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the party governors to give Alhaji Atiku Abubakar the ticket to lead the party to victory in 2019. He is experienced and capable of bringing everlasting peace to the Niger Delta, as well as the entire country, to boost the economy to an enviable height and stabilize our foreign exchange rate and bring foreign investors to invest in various sectors of the economy.”

A member of the group, Peter Eloka Okocha, described Atiku as a distinguished Nigeria and a man who knows the challenges in Nigeria and willing to serve the nation and rescue it for the good of all Nigerians.

Represented by Dr. Nelson Ejakpovi, Okocha said: “The man Atiku is detribalized, he has never hidden his passion for a better Nigerian, he belongs to our great party, the PDP. As a vice president, he served this country meritoriously and is on record that we may not be using GSM phones today if not for the role Atiku played as vice president.

“Nigeria would not have anti-corruption agencies like Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). We know that it was when Atiku was vice president that the ICPC was established. Atiku is aware of the sufferings of Nigerians, hence his desire to save Nigerians from the unfortunate hardship we find ourselves. He is determined to open grounds for Nigerians to excel and to return Nigeria ton its right of place.”
