Two persons were on Monday night killed during a bloody rival cult clash in some parts of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital.
The bloody clash, which reportedly occurred along the Samphino in Kpansia and Biogbolo in Yeneziguene of Yenagoa local government area led to fear and apprehension among residents of the state.
According to residents, the sporadic sounds of shooting of guns among the rival cult groups led to pandemonium coupled with the lingering black out in the state capital.
It was learnt that one of the dead cultists was machetes beyond recognition and the other was shot in the chest at close range.
The spokesman of the Bayelsa state police command, Asimin Butswat, who confirmed the incident stated that the incident occurred on Monday night at about 8pm.
According to the police, “At about 8pm, rival cult groups clashed in Yenagoa and it led to the shooting of one Jeremiah Uche Christian aged 26. The body has been recovered and deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa.
“Another unidentified body, with multiple and deadly machete blows to the head and various parts of the body, was recovered at Yenezuigene. The body was macheted beyond recognition. His age is estimated to be around 20years.”
