Delta state commissioner for lands, surveys and urban development, Chika Ossai, has denied a rumour making round in the social media purportedly by youths that he was attacked by youths of Umusadege at Kwale while supervising the allocation of lands to the allottees at Kwale GRA in Ndokwa west local government area of Delta state.
A statement signed by the media assistant to the commissioner, Chuks Eboagwu, described the rumour as baseless, false and spread by mischievous persons who want to instigate the community against the state government.
The statement said the commissioner led some officials of the ministry to allocate plots of lands in Kwale GRA to the beneficiaries as approved by the state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
It said allocation was in progress to about three o’clock in the afternoon when about five youths led by Barrister Obigbore came and approached the commissioner alleging that the Umusadege community was not informed about the allocation.
The commissioner in swift response addressed them on the government process and advised them to go as he had already met with the elders of the community.
It said there was no confrontation or attack by any one, as the allocation work ended peacefull, just as the commissioner urged beneficiaries and members of the public to ignore the report on social media of the alleged attack.
The statement added that the people of Ndokwa nation are peace loving people who do not entertain any form of youth restiveness.
It said the commissioner being an illustrious son of Ndokwa nation was on hand to ensure strict supervision and proper allocation of the Kwale GRA that was acquired in the thirties.
The Kwale GRA did not belong to Umusadege family but Delta state government .
The statement further said a lot of people have allocations with certificate of occupancy before now, but were unable to start development due to the lack of access roads.
The commissioner in his magnanimity started and concluded the opening of the access roads last months ,hence the need to allocate the plots of land to the beneficiaries.
The statement urged owners of plots of land and the new allottees not to panic by the hand work of detractors and rumour peddlers.
