The leader of the National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, NCNDE-A, Eshanekpe Israel, a.k.a Akpodoro, has warned of dire consequences of pushing the people of Niger Delta “too hard” by the federal government.
Akpodoro revealed this in a statement made available on Monday at the heels of the report that President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Samuel Onnoghen, to vacate his office on account of alleged non-declaration of assets to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
The ex-militant leader, who is the zonal coordinator of South-South on Youth and Support Groups for Atiku Abubakar, noted that President Buhari has crossed the ethnic red lines by going for the jugular of the CJN whom he described as the highest office holder from the South-South geo-political zone in current political arrangement in the country.
The erstwhile pro Buhari Ex-militant leader noted that hanging such allegations on the person of Justice Onnoghen by the Buhari – led federal government was an insult to the collective sensibilities of the people of the zone vowing that the people would resist Mr. Buhari’s move with the last drop of their blood.
Akppodoro said Justice Onnoghen did not commit any crime to warrant harassing and intimidating him for sinister motives of premeditated plans to rig the 2019 presidential polls.
The Urhobo-born group leader who is also the national coordinator of the Urhobo Youth Forum for Change, UYFC, said he would lead the youths of the region to rally support for the embattled CJN who he called upon to disabuse his mind on what he described as trump up charges against him.
“We have absolute confidence and love for our own Onnoghen and nobody under any guise can intimate him for any reason. We are following the events as they unfold and any attempt at touching our epitome of meritorious service and integrity, the world will feel our reaction.
“This ethnic bigot of a president should go after his Fulani brothers who are killing fellow citizens everyday unchallenged and leave innocent Nigerians out of his ethnic war,” the former warlord stated, adding that the president should first and foremost arraign and commit to prison the “grasscutter” former DG DIA and secretary to the government of the federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal.
He stressed further that the president has ignored calls to bring the former SGF to justice but find pleasure in harassing southerners.
