Delta 2019: I’ll finance Okowa’s call for public debate with his opponents – Onuesoke

Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has thrown his weight behind recent call by Delta state  Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, challenging his opponents in  2019 Delta state governorship  election to a  public debate.

Okowa gave the challenge on Tuesday at a mega rally organised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta North senatorial district to receive defectors from other political parties at the Kwale township stadium in Ndokwa West local government area of Delta state.

Speaking to journalists by the sideline during the rally, Onuesoke affirmed that he is not only fully in support of Okowa,  he has equally promised to foot the  organization  and bill of the debate if giving the opportunity to do so.

He said such debate would give the governor the opportunity to expose his monumental achievements in infrastructure, human development, education, security and health among others.

Onuesoke, however, stated that the laudable achievements already made by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa would earn him a second term in 2019 governorship election.

He argued that those contesting the Delta state governorship election with Okowa are no match, hence none has acquired the administrative and governance skill of Okowa that has entrusted him dearly to the heart of the people of Delta state.

“Okowa started his political career from the grass root as councilor, chairman, commissioner, SSG, senator and finally governor. He grew through the rope. He is an experience politician and administrator.

“He has used such experience to spread development in Delta state. None of those contesting against him has such magnificent experience and performance. I wonder what his opponents have to present at the debate,” he queried.

Onuesoke explained that Okowa’s achievements in the past three years of his administration are unprecedented in the history of the state.

He said that the governor had proven his love for the good people of the state by bringing transformation to the land through the SMART agenda of his government.

He noted that Delta state is, today, far ahead of many other states in Nigeria, because of the progressive steps  that were taken by Okowa to re-invigorate the state economy.

According to him, Okowa has tightened financial leakages, introduced human capital development programmes and created the office of the chief job creation officer to drive long term jobs and wealth creation programmes anchored on ‘prosperity for all Deltans’ mantra.
