Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has said that come 2019, nobody can sack Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as governor of Delta state.
Onuesoke, who spoke in Warri, while reacting to a statement credited to a former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will sack Okowa in 2019, said the former governor was speaking in ignorance of the political structure of the PDP in the state.
The former Delta state PDP governorship aspirant recalled the PDP landslide victory in the just concluded Delta state local government elections, sweeping all seats, as a warning signal to the former governor and that APC will never win Delta state governorship election in the near future.
“If you want to know who will win the 2019 governorship election in Delta state, you need to check the results of the just concluded local government election in the state.
“PDP may not be perfect as being painted by APC, but APC needs to justify an opportunity in Delta state by delivering their campaign promises at the federal level.
“it is not right for the former governor not to acknowledge the giant strides recorded by Okowa since he assumed office two years ago.
“The governor has judiciously deployed resources available to the state in reaching out to the citizens with development strides.
“The emergence of Senator Okowa as governor has brought high transformation under the SMART Agenda encapsulated in the acronym SMART which means; Strategic wealth creation projects and provision of jobs for all Deltans”, he said.
He said: “Governor Okowa has done a lot in delighting the people of Delta state in their quest for quality roads which no doubt is one of the dividends of democracy.
“As at today, Governor Okowa has embarked on total of 697.36 km roads and 300km of drains both at the Urban and rural areas, from this figure, 276.63 km roads are in the rural areas.
“The completion of these roads is coming due to the prudent management of resources, the roads projects include critical inter and intra-city road projects, including concrete-lined drains,” he said.
