Diden, Askia, others screened, confirmed as chairman, MD of DESOPADEC

Delta State House of Assembly on Tuesday screened and confirmed twenty five persons nominated by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for various positions into the governing board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission and as commissioners and members of the state executive council.

Fifteen persons were screened and confirmed for appointment into the governing board of DESOPADEC while ten persons were screened and confirmed for appointment as commissioners and members of the state executive council.

The nominees were screened separately in three different sets for appointment into the governing board of DESOPADEC following a motion moved by the Deputy Majority Leader, Oboro Preyor, seconded by Pat Ajudua.

First to be screened were Michael Diden, a former member of the State legislature as chairman, Chief Askia Ogieh as Managing Director, Daniel Mayuku and John Nani both former members of the State Assembly as executive directors and Joyce Overah, a former member of the House of Representatives and immediate past commissioner for local government affairs as member of the commission.

Others screened are Lucky Shedrack Agediga, and Barrister Leonard Anoka as Executive Directors, Chief Kent Okiemute, Dr Paul Oweh and Mr Griftson Omatsuli as members of DESOPADEC.

Also screened by the House for appointment into the governing board of DESOPADEC are Chief Vincent Oyibode,Dr Ossai Ochonogor Samuel, Mr Ikechukwu Akozor, Dr Paul Bebenimibo and Architect Anslem Nwokenye.

The nominees were all introduced by the members representing their various Constituencies who took time to highlights their educational and political background as well as contributions to the development of the State and previous appointments where the servers meritoriously .

The Speaker, Sheriff Oborevwori, after acknowledging the efforts of the nominees urged them to work assiduously for the development of oil bearing communities. All the nominees were asked to bow and go separately by the Speaker.

Also screened by the House were the ten nominees for appointment as commissioners and members of the state executive council.
The commissioner nominees who were screened in two different set include Mr. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, a former chief press secretary to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Mr. Ifeanyi Egwunyenga, Dr Mordi Ononye, Ovie Oghoore, and Prince Emmanuel Amgbaduba, the PDP Chairman Delta South Senatorial.

The nominees were introduced by the members representing their constituencies in the House where they spoke of their antecedents.

Other screened by the House for appointment as commissioners and Members of the State Executive Council are Mrs. Gbubemi Ikolo, Mr. Matthew Tsekiri, Mr. Christian Onogba, Mr. Omamoge Joseph Pirah and Chief Henry Sakpra.

The nominees were also introduced by the members representing their constituencies in the House.

The Speaker told the nominees to maintain the confidence reposed in them by the governor for appointment as commissioners. The nominees were asked to bow and go.
