Deeper Life Pastor challenges Christian women on godliness, gives recipe for God’s abiding glory

AUSTIN OYIBODE, ASABA

Pastor Pious Idume, the Delta state overseer of the Deeper Life Bible Church, at the weekend, called on Christians not to defend their children when they are wayward but rebuke them so as to bring them to the part of righteousness and assist them to experience the glory of God.

Pastor Idume gave the charge to Christian women during a sermon at the Deeper Life women conference organized by the Asaba region of the church and held at the region headquarters church in Asaba, the Delta state capital.

Pastor Idume gave the charge on the understanding that some parents, even Christians, support the action of their children while relegating to the background the misbehavior and unruly attitude of their children in the church.

In the sermon which dwelt on the glory of God and the need to shun worldliness as Christians, Pastor Idume said God will withdraw his glory from Christians who slide into sin and become rebellious, stubborn, obstinate and refuse to obey the will of God for their lives.

He said God does not tolerate sin, warning that those who abandon God, and withdraw from his presence, cannot hear from God, saying the presence and glory of God that would have helped in withstanding the enemy is taken away because of sin and other forms of unrighteousness.

Pastor Idume said: ”When people involve themselves in worldliness, God’s presence is driven away. If you are worldly, you are driving the glory of God away from your life and the church of God.

“When you abandon the will and way of God, God’s glory will be taken away from you. Again, when you forsake the warning of God, it drives God’s glory from you and the church.”

According to him, because of sin and stubbornness among believers, God has withdrawn his glory from them, noting: “Most believers are stiff necked, rebellious and not willing to obey the will of God. The glory of God is not in them.
“Anywhere God sees sin, he withdraws his glory and presence. Such people no longer hear from God. The presence and glory of God would have withstood the enemy in their lives if sin were not in them.”

Speaking on “Possessing and Enjoying Our Glorious Inheritance”, the Asaba Region Overseer, Pastor Pius Imiewanrin Ross, told the women that God has possession for everyone but to claim them, Christians must be in the kingdom of God.

He said the inheritance is for those who fear and honour God, adding that the inheritance comes as a result of the believers’ relationship with God, not mere membership of a Christian assembly.

He said the inheritance of God is for the obedience, not for the disobedience and rebellious, saying implicit obedience will bring God’s blessing upon the life of believers.

The Region Overseer said there are blessings believers stand to gain from being partakers of the glorious inheritance. He said there is abundance for believers and unsearchable riches in Christ, “that will make you to rejoice and testify to the goodness of God.”

According to him, it involves abundant health, peace of mind, protection from the enemy, joy and prosperity and that God will wipe away all tears from all eyes, noting that this provision is by the divine grace of God.

Speaking prophetically, he said: “You will eat the good of the land, angels will minister to you. No sorrow will be added to it. No sorrow will be in your life, no disappointment with God. Jesus has purchased the blessings for us. Your life will be full of blessings.

“The oasis of God’s love will surround you. The goodness of God will follow you. You will be fruitful in the land. God will settle you. The business you’ve been doing that is not making progress, God will lift it up.”

The two-day-conference that was anchored by wife of the Asaba Region Overseer, Mrs. Charity Imiewarin, featured health talks for youths and adults, a roundtable discussion on issues affecting the women world, developing business ideas that could help women contribute to the growth of their families among others.

Mrs. Anthonia Anyafulu explained details of business ideas that women could be engaged in so as to help contribute to the needs of their families. She said there are business opportunities that women could get into, rather than remaining idle and depending on husbands for all their needs.

This is even as one of the participants, an elderly woman, explained how she started groundnut selling with N20 from where she grew to be selling half bag to full bag where she has now grown and doing well.

The health talks involved knowing body structure and its functions, facts about menopause, talks about middle age, precautions against domestic accidents, danger of self-medication, the importance of breakfast and proper hand washing.

The two-day-conference exposed the women to the nitty-gritty of family life, the fundamentals of enjoying a blissful Christian family with the presence of God, how women could be supportive to their husbands in raising the financial base of the home and train their children and ultimately prepare for the kingdom of God.

The women conference with the theme “Women of Glory, Radiating God’s Glory in a Dark World” was attended by women in Oshimili North and South, the two local government areas that constitute Asaba region out of the 14 regions of Deeper Life Bible Church in Delta state.
