Read what Delta students did to this Ughelli South House of Assembly aspirant

Students across higher institutions in Delta state have obtained an All Progressives Congress nomination form for a former student leader in the state, Koyoyo Urhorho, to represent Ughelli south state constituency in the Delta state house of assembly.

The students, who besieged the APC secretariat along the popular Nnebisi road, singing solidarity songs, contributed money from among students across the state to purchase the nomination form for the former students’ leader and presented same to him at the Southgate hotel on Monday.

The excited students told journalists that they have implicit confidence in Urhorho, coupled with his leadership qualities while in Delta state university, Urhorho will make a marked difference away from the old horses that have remained in the state house of assembly over the years.

Urhorho, who received the form from the students, told Emeraldng.com that prior to his going into full time politics, he had been involved in students politics back away in the Delta state university.

A graduate of Electrical Electronics Engineering from the Oleh campus of the state university, Urhorho said he graduated in 2013 and he has been always interested in politics because it is through voting the right people that “we can have good governance and a better society.”

He continued: “I believe that it is only through representation from good people that is when and where we can have a better society. So, it is on that note that I have always been interested in politics. I started while I was in school from campus and today I am in the circular politics.

“I feel so humbled sincerely because looking around and seeing student union presidents from all the campuses in Delta state, I feel very humbled. It takes a good foundation, a credible representation which I gave to them while I was their chairman for them to go to their different treasury; all the campuses went to their treasury and raised money for my nomination.

“Like I told you I am a young man who graduated in 2013. So, to raise the amount of money to purchase the form is not even easy. So, I feel humbled and I feel overwhelmed by the gesture of these students.”

He said the gesture demonstrated by the students means a lot to him, insisting that “it is not just trusting me but it also means they are sending me for another assignment entirely because they have seen what I can do and they want me to come into the circular politics and do that which I have done before while in the university.

“What it means to me is that it will spur and motivate me and by the grace of God it is telling me to do more and if I go to the state house of assembly, they are also telling me not to betray them. So, it is one package with different messages to me.”

He said though many people are contesting the election, he said he is most qualified among all the aspirants gunning for the position.

“It is true, so many people are contesting in the different parties even in my party, we are up to eight contesting for the party ticket, though they are all qualified but at this point in this digital age, I am the most qualified. So, any other person who wants to contest is free but by the special grace of God I will be the one to represent the good people of Ughelli south.”

He said Ughelli south which he plans to represent at the state house of assembly, is one of the most underdeveloped local government area in the state, adding that “by the special grace of God, when we get to the house, we will not even have time to rest.

“That is my agenda, there is no resting, the moment we get to this office, Deltans not just Ughelli south will begin to see what leadership is all about. We will go beyond our primary assignment as a lawmaker. If it means going anywhere to beg for even development not just dragging, we will do that provided our people have quality representation.”

Among the students leaders present during the purchase of the form are Comrade Chika Kessy, director of action and mobilization of NANS Zone B; Comrade Ejiro Ayigbe JCC chairman Delta state; ComradeOrhotohwo Nelson Emume, former PRO NANS JCC Delta state and FUPRE SUG-President-elect.
