Engr. Philip Ugbomah Chukwumah, an experienced technocrat missing in government

In our world today, history has no record of any society that was built or transformed through autopilot. States and countries have often been developed, transformed and remodeled by capable hands who were prepared for leadership and have in them unstoppable breath of patriotism.

From Cuba to Singapore to the UAE and recently Rwanda, the world is advancing in geometric progression that can only be delivered by men who are prepared to launch the future today.

It is a statement of fact that Delta state is one of the most blessed states in Nigeria today. Aside its rich natural endowment in form of huge deposits of oil and natural gas, the atate can comfortably boast of having some of the most patriotic, intelligent and resources brains currently changing the face of things nationally and globally. In all strata of human endeavors,

Deltans have shown in a loud pitch their indisputable dexterity and industry in ways that have left the world in awe. Those who propounded the ‘Warri nor dey carry last’ maxim may actually be people who foretold the conscientiousness of the average Deltan from the very beginning.

No doubt, the Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa’s government has shown uncommon readiness to rewrite or share history with a golden ink. A drive round Asaba can confirm in glaring terms how the ideologies and vision of one man is bringing unfathomable joy to the doorstep of many.

From a glorified state capital enmeshed in cruel abandonment, Asaba is today the fastest growing state capital in Nigeria. The development Okowa brought and still bringing is rather not limited to Asaba alone. During the last campaign period, the SMART governor pointed out with profound exactitude numerous projects in their various stages of competition in all of the twenty-five Local government areas in the State. This era of aggressive infrastructural drive is unheard of in the history of Delta.

In all of these, Engr. PHILIP UGBOMAH CHUKWUMAH is one man that has shown readiness to contribute his own quota to the development of Delta as a state. A vibrant and thorough Civil and Structural Engineer who has made an indelible mark in the construction industry in the state and beyond.

It is hard to see a major project ongoing in Asaba and environs without the fingers of this construction mogul. From project design to bidding, planning and execution, a handful of government officials and contractors often run to this man for guidance and validation of ideas.

Aside roads, culverts and bridges, Engr. PHILIP has also constructed some of the sprawling architectural masterpieces in Asaba and environs. Whenever you attribute a powerful structure with superb finishing to the man I chose to call the bricklayer, chances are high that you will be correct.

Since making his mark in the private sector, Engr. PHILIP has never hidden his desire to serve the state as a public servant. While addressing a mammoth crowd of his supporters and PDP faithful some time ago in his Aboh Community in Ndokwa East, Engr UGBOMAH explained that his desire to join government was born out of the need to bring his private sector experience to develop the state in line with the SMART agenda of Governor Okowa. He contested to represent his people at the State House of Assembly and lost to the incumbent and Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi during the primaries of the PDP.

Sooner after the primaries, Engr. PHILIP UGBOMAH CHUKWUMAH became the beautiful bride of the opposition. Day in day out, almost every opposition political party in the state approached him to fly their tickets for free. They craved to catch on his grassroots popularity, vibrancy and contacts across board to strengthen their parties.

They knew that the candidature of Engr. PHILIP would boost their chances in all of the elections. However, like a loyal partyman, UGBOMAH CHUKWUMAH displayed uncommon loyalty to his party. He embraced the winner and pledged to remain in the PDP to help build the party against a rampaging opposition with federal might.

Among all the candidates that contested and lost primaries in PDP across the state, UGBOMAH CHUKWUMAH is perhaps the only one that did not collapse the structure of his campaign organisation. His group popularly known as the ‘Do the Work Movement’ was all over the place campaigning for all candidates of the party during the election.

There was hardly a political rally of note that members of this movement didn’t register their visibility. Publicity materials were printed and freely distributed, logistics were always provided for party faithful during these events while the Do The Work house to house campaign team never relented on their mandate.

At the constitution of the Ndokwa East PDP campaign Team, Engr. UGBOMAH was unanimously chosen to lead the publicity wing of the campaign as Director media and publicity Ndokwa East in the LGA. This assignment he carried out to the amazement of party leaders and members.

As the drums of the election beat harder, UGBOMAH sooner converted his Do The Work Movement which was earlier localized in Ndokwa East to a statewide campaign vehicle for His Excellences Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa altering the nomenclature to ‘Do The Work For Atiku and Okowa.

From there, he became the State Chairman of coalition for all PDP support groups Delta state branch.
Aside donations during party funds raising at his local government and ward levels, it is equally worth noting that Engr. UGBOMAH personally bankrolled all the groups he formed and chaired all through the campaign period.

Few weeks to the general election, his Do The Work Movement went round the state taking motion photos and videos of Okowa’s success story across the state. These images were used to produce documentaries that were aired in various TV and Radio stations. All these he did as part of his personal contributions to the governor’s reelection.

Engr. PHILIP UGBOMAH CHUKWUMAH has paid his dues in many fronts. The love his people have for him knows no bound. He has been around the corridors of power long enough to know how government can impact on the people positively. If brought on board the SMART train in this dispensation expected to take off in few weeks time, it is the general believe that this young energetic youth will bring to the table renewed vigour, strength and energy to help Gov. Okowa record more successes that he did in his first term.
