Former militant leader, Eshanekpe Israel, has said that with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in the saddle of Delta state, the good story of Delta state will end in praise.
Eshanekpe, who is also known as Akpodoro, said Governor Okowa’s victory at the Saturday polls has ended the political career of his main challenger, Great Ogboru, who has never won election but continue to project himself before the people of the state.
Akpodoro made the assertions while sending a congratulatory message to Governor Okowa on his landslide victory in the just concluded governorship election across the country.
The Ex-militant leader said the governor’s victory was a well deserved one and a testimony to his capacity for quality service delivery to the people of the oil-rich state.
Akpodoro, who is the national president of the National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, NCNDE-A, said Okowa’s victory was a testimony of his hard work and good conscience with which he had led the state in the past four years.
He added that Okowa’s good reputation spoke for him in the election, stressing that his resilience coupled with his peaceful conduct, earned him his second term, even as he urged him never to abandon those sterling qualities that made him popular amongst the masses of the state.
Akpodoro, whose campaign for Governor Okowa was greeted with huge success laced with victory in the Delta central, called on Deltans to rally support for the governor to succeed in his second term.
While calling on the opposition to sheath their sword and support the development of the state as championed by the governor, he urged the governor to reward loyalty and hardwork of the youths of Urhobo land who were instrumental to his huge success at the poll.
He said the margin with which Governor Okowa defeated his rival was most unprecedented in the history of elections in the state since Chief Ogboru began his political career.
“Without mincing words, I knew the governor has the capacity to beat his opponent who is a regular face in electoral contests in the state but I never knew he could dust him that much.
“Governor Okowa was a good product that was easy to market to the people and that made the job easier for us who are his supporters. I congratulate him, his entire team and the good people of Delta state. With Okowa in the saddle, our story will end in praise,” the vociferous youth leader stated.
Okowa’s victory, according to him, will promote and strengthen the bond of brotherhood that exists in the three senatorial districts of the multi-ethnic state on the plank of equity and mutual understanding.
He said it was good that Deltans ignored agents of anarchy whose aim was to thwart the existing love amongst the people who fly ethnic flag.
