An Ex-militant leader, Eshanekpe Israel, a.k.a Akpodoro, has called on the Delta state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, to, as a matter of urgency, hit the ground running stressing that the re-elected governor has no time.
Akpodoro stated this in a statement issued in Abuja and signed by him to congratulate the governor who emerged victorious at the just concluded gubernatorial election in the oil-rich state.
He stressed that Okowa should not be complacent having won a landslide victory on the platter of his track record of hardwork and excellent service delivery to the good people of Delta state.
The medical doctor turned politician, Akpodoro noted, has enormous tasks ahead which he said include addressing the infrastructural deficit in the state, positioning the state in the fore front of human and economic development and addressing the issue of mass unemployment for “our teeming youth population.”
The Urhobo – born former warrior who is the president of the National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, NCNDE-A, however, expressed hope that the governor was equal to the tasks ahead, noting that he had shown enough proof that he is reliably dependable.
Akpodoro called on the governor to reward those who worked for him in the run up to the last elections stressing that loyalty must be rewarded as he vouched for the governor in this regard.
Dr Okowa, according to Akpodoro, who spearheaded his campaigns amongst the youth population of the Delta central senatorial district was a good product, easy to sell to the electorates with laudable achievements to market to the people of the state.
For the reason that the governor is a good person loved by all, we all threw our hats in the ring for him and here we are in victory. On behalf of NCNDE-A, I congratulate the governor and his entire team. For being a good person, our loyalty and love go for him.
“As a group, we have no regret working for a man whose campaigns and victory was already halfed by his success story long before the elections and his subsequent victory. What we ask is for him to reward loyalty and hardwork particularly those Urhobo youths who blazed the odds of temptations of ethnicity to support him.” He stated.
Additionally, Akpodoro who doubles as the national Coordinator of Urhobo Youth Forum for Change, UYFC expressed satisfaction in the people of Urhobo land for their steadfastness in support of the governor as against the temptations posed by those he described as ethnic jingoists whom he noted are Urhobo only during elections but Lagosians after election.
“They came to cause disaffection, whipping ethnic sentiments to confuse the people for their narrow interests so as to create mutual suspicion among ethnic nationalities in the state.
“They come to compromise the existing brotherhood and unity in the state by flying ethnic flag but rather than look in their direction, the people of urhobo land chose to build a stronger union in the bond of brotherhood in the state for peace and tranquility as represented by the governor.” The pro Governor Okowa ex-militant leader enthused.
