Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state will, on Thursday, join prominent Nigerians to brain-storm at the maiden edition of the Warri Economic Summit.
The event which is being packaged by the Warri south local government council according to a statement signed by the chairman of the council, Michael Tidi, and made available to journalists, former Director-General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Prince Raymond Temisan Omatseye, Mr. Sam Daibo, Mr. Tosan Harriman, Mr Alex Eyengho, among others will deliver lectures at the 2-day event billed to hold in the oil city of Warri, Delta state.
According to the statement, issues that will be discussed include making Warri Port the preferred Port of call in West Africa, how the corporate world decides where to invest and why it matters, local government as enablers of ease of doing business, assessing Warri readiness for business using investment readiness matrix, overcoming the obstacles to financing import and export trade from Warri, improving security for maritime trade in Warri river, among others.
Hon. Tidi who observed that Governor Okowa’s administration has provided the enabling environment for investments to thrive in the state, said the summit will identify and map out ways of providing employment for the teeming unemployed youths.
“We are committed to restoring the lost glory of Warri and we are confident that with this summit which will take place on Friday, 17th May and Friday, 18th May, 2018 we are on course to achieving that because, decisions reached at the summit will be implemented to the benefits of our people, Deltans, Nigerians and the world at large because, Warri is strategically located to be the destination of anyone from any part of the world either for business, or tourism,” Hon. Tidi reiterated.
