CENTRE LSD, NACGOND PARTNER COMMUNITIES ON CLIMATE CHANGE
The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD) will on Thursday 27th June, 2019 conduct a workshop for community members on the project “Niger Delta Climate Change Action Programme”, under the platform of National Coalition on Gas Flaring and Oil Spill in the Niger Delta (NACGOND), with support from the Dutch Embassy, Abuja.
The one-day workshop which will hold at Chad-Ef Hotel, Asaba will focus on equipping community members with the appropriate knowledge of climate change peculiarities in Delta State, with particular focus on adaptative and mitigative strategies for vulnerable groups, in partnership with the government on how to be upfront in taking decisions that will help to restore the vulnerable Niger Delta environment.
A statement jointly signed by Mr. Foster Akpore and Dr. Ben Ubleble, Niger Delta Coordinator of Centre LSD and Project Officer of NACGOND respectively, said that adult learning principles and participatory approach that will link past learning to present and future experiences by creating space for participants to practice what they have been taught, with help and guidance, in an informal and non-threatening environment shall be the training methodology.
It enjoined all members of the select target audience drawn from Communities, MDAs, Media, and CSOs to come out en mass for this all-important workshop that will enable them get better equipped to contribute towards the achievement of a clean and green Niger Delta environment. ###
