Human rights group sympathises with Delta police over murder of police officer

I wish to, on behalf of the human rights community, sympathise with the Delta state police command ably led by CP Ibrahim Mustapha and the family of the police officer who was machete to death at Kowen Plaza Asaba.

Two riffles and one pistol were collected by the hoodlums who attacked the police who were on stop and search duty.

This trend is becoming worrisome as killing of policemen on duty and taking their arms is gradually taking the front seat in the battle against crime and criminals.

We want to use this medium to urge the commissioner of police CP Mustapha to take a proactive step by nipping this ugly trend in the bud before it gets out of hand.

Should this ugly act continue, we will have no other choice than to protest the removal of the CP. Kidnapping on the increase, cultism on the increase, robbery on the increase and only what the police authority does is to confirm report without taking proactive steps to curb these crimes. A stitch in time saves nine.
