After series of confusing publications alleging that former governor of Delta state, James Onanefe Ibori, had dumped Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to lead himself to 2019, on Wednesday, Ibori re-emphasised his endorsement of Governor Okowa for the 2019 general elections.
Ibori’s re-endorsement of Okowa might not be unconnected with the need to correct the confusing publications on the social media claiming that Ibori had allegedly said it should not taken as a surprise if Okowa lose the 2019 general elections.
This endorsement is the second time Ibori is making public pronouncement of Governor Okowa’s endorsement for the 2019 general elections in the state.
Ibori, who had been in London jail over corruption charges and released in February 2017, told a large crowd of Delta people at Asaba that Governor Okowa is doing well and endorsed his continuity for 2019.
The event was the exhibition of job creation products of the state government where youths trained by the administration under the skills acquisition programme of the government were displayed for the generality of Deltans.
Ibori, who earlier endorsed the governor in Oghara, his country home, said: “The day Delta people chose Okowa, they knew you will deliver and thank God you are delivering. Thank you for remembering our youths. We are grateful.”
Ibori, who said he is interested in the progress of Delta, said: “Okowa is doing very well, may God sharpen your vision so that after eight years Delta will be better for it. We are grateful for dedicating yourself for Delta. We should maintain peace in Delta and we should support the government to do more for us.”
Meanwhile, more than 400 beneficiaries of the skill acquisition programmes of Governor Okowa’s administration in Delta state had an exhibition programmes on Wednesday with Governor Okowa saying investment in micro, small and medium scale enterprises is the easiest means of reducing youth unemployment and poverty.
