IKA SOUTH: QUEEN WANDA MONYE JOINS RACE FOR DELTA ASSEMBLY, SAYS FEMALES SHOULD BE GIVEN OPPORTUNITY IN POLITICS

Queen Wanda Monye, a humanitarian who has touched much lives in Ika land and across delta state with her pet project, Candle Light Foundation, has joined the race to the Delta State House of Assembly to represent Ika South at the hallowed chambers.

Monye, a multiple award winning beauty queen and actress, is seeking the mandate of her people under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party which is already making wave in the state.

The queen, who purchased her form at the party secretariat on Wednesday, told journalists that her interest in the race to the house, is to serve her Ika South constituency with a vision to transform the lives of the people in her area.

“I’m aspiring because I want to serve and I have a vision for a better working system for our people. I’m not the type of person who complains about our leaders, I’d rather see what I can do to make a difference, hence, I took it upon myself to take the first step at giving my service to the people of my immediate constituency.”

Queen Monye, whose pet project has reached so many lives, especially the womenfolk and youths, said her ascension to the House of Assembly will open vista of opportunities for her to empower more people, especially youths to make them totally independent and be able to empower others in Ika south.

For her, as a lawmaker, one of her major programmes is to open opportunity for skills acquisition for her people, develop their talents in areas where they are most suited and provide education opportunities for as many as are ready but financially downtrodden.

Against a situation where lawmakers become elusive when they win election, the young queen said her doors will be open to everyone who may need her assistance for whatever need in the constituency.

Though there are eight people under the platform of the All progressives Congress seeking the ticket for the 2019 race where she is the only female, Queen Wanda believes that she has whatever it takes to represent the area, noting that females should be given opportunities to make impact and contribute to the development of the state.

She told journalists that she is not going to the House of Assembly for personal aggrandizement but to meet the needs of her constituents and bring government to the grassroots and the rural people, even as she said she will make everyone feel the impact of government as long as she remains in the House of Assembly.

Her major focus, she said, are the youths, whom she believed should be given the opportunity to earn a decent living, hence she said she will influence bills that will be beneficial to youths not only in her constituency but also in the entire Delta state.

“The youths, I believe, once we all catch the vision, we will move to greater heights,” adding that with the energy in youths, they can make a great difference.

She pleaded with party members to put personal interest aside and let the interest of the party be the stakeholders guiding interest.

Although there are complaints against President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, Queen wanda said Buhari is a change catalyst who has a good programme for Nigeria, hence he should be given the chance to complete the programme he has for the good of Nigeria.
