Isoko group to hold street campaign against drug abuse, rape and child abuse

As part of efforts to curtail the spate of social vices in today’s society, a socio-cultural pressure group, The Ideal Isoko Woman (TIIW) in collaboration with Isoko National Youth Assembly and Isoko Local Councils Chairmen will, next week’s Saturday 26, May 2018 embark on a street campaign through Isoko South and North Local Government Areas respectively.

In a statement made available by the organiser, Mrs. Xino Arugba Monnitey, expected  persons and parties in the campaign which will kick off by 8am include all Isoko groups, leaders, traditional rulers, security agencies, religious leaders amongst others to step up street campaign against social vices.

The organiser, Monitey, in her statement, stated that the need for the fight against rape, child molestation and drug abuse can never be over emphasized hence all hands must be on deck to check the vice. She said: “It has become a daily occurrence and thus a menace that requires a major fight and consistent follow up in our immediate environment and the rural areas most especially.”

According to her: “We have a major problem in our hands, the generation behind us needs us. The younger child needs the protective hands of their older brothers, sisters, aunties, uncles, fathers and mothers, thus, we cannot afford to fail them. We cannot afford to fold our hands and watch this reality destroy our future generation.”

She called on well meaning sons, daughters and residents of Isoko nation to join hands in this fight against the vermin threatening the soul of society to better mould a future that falls within promising dreams.

Monitey said, “We are counting on all to get involved and to be passionate about this fight. Imagine it’s your little daughter exposed to this menace, being taken advantage of without help, wasting away with usage of cheap drugs.

“It’s time to share in the pains of the young boy and girl being molested out there and take responsibility. We can do this, we can together, join hands and collectively fight against rape, child molestation and drug abuse. The time is now!!!” The statement stressed.
