JUST IN: 70-year-old father of council chairman kidnapped in Ijaw speaking community

Mr. Wellington Magbisa, the 70 years old father of the Sagbama Local Government Area Council Chairman in Bayelsa State, Hon. Micheal Magbisa has been kidnapped from his home in the Mile 2 area of the local government.

Hon. Micheal Magbisa, one of the most humble and hardworking Local Council boss in the state, told newsmen on telephone that though the abduction of his father is unsettling him, he believes the kidnappers will treat him with calm and be gentle.

Magbisa confirmed that his abducted father is a God fearing person and with prayer, he will be released, “yes, he was kidnapped at about 4.30am at his residence along Mile two by six armed men. ”

He however said the kidnappers are yet to contact him on ransom.,”I have no contact from the kidnappers yet. ”

Community sources claimed that the 70 years old man was kidnapped by unknown gunmen numbering about seven.

According to reports,the men who were said to be heavily armed whisked him away to a waiting boat through the waterside after forcefully breaking into his home.

The spokesman of the State police command, Mr. Asinim Butswat ,who confirmed the development said ” Yes, we heard of the abduction that took place at Sagbama in the early hours of today (Sunday) allegedly carried out by five gunmen.”

“The gunmen were said to have entered the communitu in a speedboat and escaped through the River. The police have commenced investigations into the matter.”
