Suspected killers of the 16-year-old 100 level student of the Bayelsa state owned University, the Niger Delta University, Ammassoma, Miss Seiyefa Fred, has been arrested by the members of the state vigilante service.
Miss Seiyefa Fred was shot dead last Thursday at Amarata, a suburb of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital after the cultists snatched off her cell phone.
Envagelist Parkins Ogede, the state chairman of the Vigilante Service, while parading the suspects, Junior Danumunabo and Ezagi in Yenagoa, said the duo were nabbed in the same vicinity where the crime was committed.
“At about 5 am this morning Bayelsa State Vigilante Service apprehended two suspected killers of Miss Seiyafe Fred at Amarata. The names of the suspect are Junior Danumunabo, 20years old from Nembe, Ogbolomabiri and who resides at Gwegwe street Ovom Yenagoa while Ezagi is the leader, who gave them(suspects) guns.
He added that the suspects have been handled over to the state police command for further interrogations and prosecutions saying: “the suspects are fully ready to cooperate with the state police command to fish out everyone involved in the criminal act.”
He, however, urged members of the public to give useful information to the Nigeria police and the Bayelsa state vigilante service to nip crime in the bud.
Confirming the development, the spokesman of the state police command, DSP Asinim Butswat, said the partnership with relevant vigilant groups has paid off with the arrest of suspected cultists and recovery of firearm.
According to the police: “On 16 November, 2018, at about 0500hours, with the assistance of the Bayelsa state vigilante service, one Junior Daumunabo ‘m’ 20 years, of Ebis Mechanic Street, Amarata, was arrested with a locally made pistol.
“The suspect led police to arrest one Ayibakepreye Idionyo ‘m’ 30 years who allegedly supplied the locally made pistol.”
“Upon interrogation, Junior Daumunabo confessed to be a member of the Greenland cult group, he also confessed that he was a member of the gang that shot and killed Seiyefa Fred.”
“Investigation is ongoing to apprehend other gang members.”
