Following the successful resumption of academic activities at Maris Academy in the month of September this year, the school is set to organise her first Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.
A statement jointly signed by the chairman of the governing board of the school, Chief Ken Olise and Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, stated that the festival of nine lessons and carols will hold on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 .
According to the statement: “The gate of Maris Academy was opened to pupils and students in the month of September, 2018 following a successful thanksgiving Mass celebrated by an array of Catholic priests at the school compound on Wednesday, July 25th, 2018; as we anticipate the great feast of the Nativity of Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Maris Academy will on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, hold her First Annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols from 12 noon.“
“Believing that with prayers, proper upbringing of children, the future of the country and Delta State in particular will be brighter, the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was conceptualized for the people to sing to the glory of God,” the statement read, adding, “various choir groups and the congregation will make joyful noise to the Lord while Priests of the Catholic Church will be there to prepare us for the great Feast of Nativity of our Lord, Jesus Christ. “
The press statement added, “the festival will be wonderfully celebrated with singing with your heart, mind, and voice; special prayers will be offered while the Priests will deliver the word of God.
