SUNNY DAVID, AWKA

The vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Peter Obi, has said that he and some stalwarts of the party are being harassed by security officials.

The former governor of Anambra state made the statement after casting his vote at his Amatutu Ward 1 polling unit in Agulu, Anaocha local government area of Anambra state.

Mr. Obi, who came to vote in company of his wife at 8:45am said it was rather too early to say which way the vote will sway.

Similarly the Anambra state governor has called on people with voters card to come out enmasse to exercise their civic responsibility or be disenfranchised.

Said he: “I encourage Ndi Anambra to come out and perform their civic responsibility and help Nigeria move forward.”

Governor ward, Aguleri Ward 1 was, however, without the usual crowd that comes out during voting exercise.

But the governor who came out to vote at 10:15am in company of his wife said the low voters turn out was not anything to worry about saying that the voters whose polling booth was there were living close by and will come out to vote before the close of the voting exercise.

Feelers have it that the people were allegedly directed to vote for the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

According to some youths who spoke to our correspondent, they said they have agreed to vote for APGA.

He said, “Aguleri is a united town and once we agree to vote for someone, that is what we will do.”

As at 10:30am, election materials were yet to arrive at Iyiowa Odekpe in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State.
