At least 1436 delegates are in Port Harcourt for the national convention of the Peoples Democratic party where a presidential candidate is expected to emerge from the 13 aspirants vying for the position.
Available reports from Port Harcourt indicate that there are 48 senators, 156 reps members, 29 governorship candidates, 74 party state chairmen and secretaries, 25 former and present governors and deputies, 774 national delegates from local governments across the country and 330 houses of assembly members.
Facts emerging from the convention also reveal that the convention is zeroing on five major candidates, Atiku, Saraki, Tambuwal, Kwankwaso and Dakwambo. Atiku, Saraki and Tambuwal were seen still making last minute consultation at the convention ground.
However, Atiku and Tambuwal appear most favourite from what some delegates are quietly saying to journalists on ground in Port Harcourt.
Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta state and chairman of PDP National Convention Planning Committee addressed the press and the entire delegates and called for patience, explaining why convention is yet to start, saying it was due to transparent accreditation.
