Private media proprietors speak on peaceful polls as Nigerians vote on Saturday

APPMEN National President, Enebuse Demands for Peaceful Polls

The Association of Proprietors of Private Media Establishment of Nigeria, APPMEN, has appealed to Nigerians to shun all forms of violence that could jeopardise the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) effort to achieve credible elections, even as it urged Nigerians to pray for peaceful general elections.

The national president of APPMEN, Comrade Precious Enebuse, who made the call in Asaba, while answering questions from journalists, condemned in strong terms the gruesome killing of Mr. Lawrence Ijei Ngozi, an aide to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who was shot dead on 15th of February at Uvwie, Warri and the assassination attempt on Hon. Sabastine Okoh, APC House of Representatives Candidate for Ika Federal Constituency.

“Nigerians should vote for only candidates that stand for the values of righteousness, peace, joy, security, job creation, unity and progress of Nigerians.

He called on INEC and all that will work in their name to make sure they do what is right to ensure free, fair and credible elections saying APPMEN demands that no political party should foment trouble or encourage their followers to foment trouble.

He urged all security agencies to remain neutral and protect lives and property, as well as allow voters to cast their votes without intimidation and molestations.

“Association of Proprietors of Private Media Establishment of Nigeria, APPMEN, is an umbrella body of all private media establishments in Nigeria with core objective to stimulate good democratic governance, unity, peace and development in Nigeria.” He added.
