A coalition of renegade militant groups from the nine states of the Niger Delta has described as “vital” and “commendable” the last week police disruption of a meeting by members of the Pan Niger Delta Elders Forum (PANDEF) in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, saying the meeting would have derailed the Niger Delta and federal government peace talk on the region.
According to the coalition, though the coalition of Niger Delta militants under the aegis of the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA) has disowned the PANDEF and its leadership following crisis of confidence, holding the planned meeting of PANDEF in Port Harcourt would have created serious tension in the region because PANDEF is no longer recognised.
RNDA, the coalition of nine other militant groups after a meeting along the Benin River of Delta state and led by General Johnmark Ezonbi, insisted that PANDEF remained disbanded from representing the region in any discussion or negotiations despite its move to change its leadership at the botched Port Harcourt meeting which further exposed Chief E. K. Clark and his cohorts to the world as a set of drowning”idols of underdevelopment in the Niger Delta region.”
The coalition also noted that PANDEF was parading a retinue of failed politicians and national treasury looters who have contributed immensely to the underdevelopment of the long neglected region despite been in power at different administrations from post independence to date.
“We sincerely thank the presidency for not entering into any further discussions with PANDEF after the mandate given to them by militants and stakeholders was withdrawn after high level discussions and appraisal from all various militant agitating groups and well meaning stakeholders from the Niger Delta region.
“We know fully well that the group was an arm of a failed political party that has contributed to the woes of under development in the region despite been in power for over 16 years Peoples Democratic Party that looted the country to its lowest ebbs for sixteen years uninterrupted.
“We thank security agencies for aborting the planned meeting of PANDEF in Port Harcourt because if not stopped it would have created serious tension in the region because PANDEF is no longer recognised as it does not enjoy the blessings and support of the people any longer.
“Clark and his cohorts should know that the withdrawal of the mandate given to PANDEF by militants and stakeholders was not a result of leadership issues but the personalities because if you check their antecedents, over 90% are members of PDP while 99% have either held elective or appointive positions with nothing tangible to show in terms of practical development in the Niger Delta region.
“And it is shameful and very disgracefull for Chief Clark to compare PANDEF to Afenifere group in the south west, Arewa Consultative Forum in the northern part of the country. These groups are not promoting corruption in their region rather they fight hard and work hard to bring development to their region.
“It is clear to the world and the presidency that PANDEF is made up of failed politicians and full of corrupt personalities who have done a lot of damages to the region.
“And we the RNDA want to let Nigerians and the people of the region know that the President Buhari led APC federal government is committed to addressing the under developmental issues that has been affecting the region for long.
“We cannot be deceived by these fellows who have fooled us over the years. Clark should honorably accept all the blames which lead to the woes of under development in the region as a contionus father to former President Goodluck Jornathan, past and present governors, ministers, Senators & House of Reps members from the region.
” But he could not use his influence to foster any single development to the region rather he was busy collecting billion contracts that he refused to complete. One of them is the ALADJA OGBE/IJoh ISABA community road that was awarded by the former governor of Delta state Chief James Ibori,he was busy throwing billion birthday parties at the expense of our oil wealth and collecting patronages from presidency and governors from the region.
” And as former Senator to former minister of information from the region he should tell us what he did for the region with the many portfolios he has held, there is nothing significant to his credit even though he was father to Jonathan, Ibori, Uduaghan Diezani, Orubebe among others ”
RNDA noted that “why did Clark not form PANDEF when Jonathan was president for 6 years so as to bring all traditonal rulers stakeholders from the region to visit his so called son Goodluck Jornathan to address the under developmental issues that is affecting the people of the region? He was busy receiving homage at his Asokoro district in Abuja.”
On the statement credited to a purported Leader of the Youths Wing of PANDEF, Famous Daunenumugha, over alleged membership of the dreaded Niger Delta Avengers, the Militant Leaders asked him ” to wake up from his slumber and name the members of Avengers since he said they are well known tohim.”
“in a nut shell it is now clear to the world and the presidency that Mr famous Daunemughan is one of the co sponsors of the defunct AVENGERS and he was one of the leaders brain behind all the bombing of oil pipelines and the destruction of federal government assets in the creeks of the Niger Delta for recognition and so as to enable him gain access to discuss with the federal government as a member of corrupt PANDEF.”
