A bloody clash between two rival street cults in Igbudu market, Old Welfare, Sam Warri, Enamejuwa and Warri Garage areas of Warri has claimed the lives two cult members within the past one week.

The tensed atmosphere forced traders at Igbudu market to hurriedly close their stalls for business and ran for their dear lives last Friday October 19, 2018.

However, the situation was put under control by a combined team of security agents.

It would be recalled that there was a similar clash between two rival street cults in Cemetery Road, Ogedegbe Street, Ereku Street, Obire Street, Sido Street and Iyara Road areas which also claimed the lives of cult members involved in the dispute.

It took the combined efforts of the vigilante groups in those areas to checkmate the hostilities of cult groups as men of the vigilantes assisted the police in fishing out the hoodlums from their hideouts.

Curfew was also imposed in Obire and Ereku streets between the hours of 8 pm till 6 am for over a month.

Residents and other concerned members of the public who spoke to our correspondent on the recent fracas between the street cults, called on government and the security agents to do something urgent to save the situation from escalating by arresting and prosecuting the street cults members.
